1. Consulting
   

We consult with municipal, commercial and residential property owners as well as industry professionals - mortgage brokers, real estate agents, builders, and architects. We inform these customers of general industry trends and introduce them to the concepts of energy efficiency as a basis for going green.

1. Energy audits
   

We use energy audits as the basis for the analysis of energy use in a building. Usually this involves a blower door test to analyze the air flow in a building (air exchanges per hour).  A detailed description of all the building’s systems, structural elements, and usage costs are entered into benchmarking software. This provides an accurate picture of the building’s level of energy efficiency. The audit results help us calculate the return on investment of proposed improvements.

Our recommendations will be based on cost, effectiveness in reducing energy use, and available subsidy.

Safety: a thorough safety analysis is part of the energy audit. We check combustion appliances for draft efficiency, all gas lines for leakage and an ambient CO test.

1. Weatherization
   

The follow-up to our audit is acting on the recommendations. Weatherization has to be performed within the standards of Resnet/BPI, which emphasize air sealing prior to other improvements, such as new HVAC systems, windows, or alternative energy solutions. Our recommended contractors understand the principles of air sealing and the demands of Resnet/BPI building standards. An exit audit is performed after the work is completed to verify the results of the installer’s work.

1. Solar installation
   

We are qualified in both solar thermal and photovoltaics. Solar thermal has proven itself to be both reliable and cost effective. PV Solar is heavily subsidized, and, as the cost of PV panels comes down, is becoming a more viable, alternative source of electricity.
